Teacher Appreciation Kit Packing Party  7/29

Teachers have had a tough couple years. Let’s help our educators start this school year right by reminding them that we are praying for them and they have our support! Help us pack boxes with items that will make their classrooms just a little more pleasant!

San Antonio Food Bank – Gustufson Distribution 7/29

The SA Food Bank is hosting a food distribution for the community! Volunteers will help with traffic control, greeting, registration, hospitality/hydration, and loading cars with food! Food Distribution – Gustafson Stadium While volunteering at a mobile distribution you will be assisting the SA Food Bank distribute food directly to the community through a drive thru distribution model.

San Antonio Food Bank – Urban Farm 7/27

Serve in our 25-acre working farm, cultivating fresh produce to provide healthy, nutritious fresh foods for distribution. Work as a group to assist with planting, harvesting, caring for, and cleaning fruits, vegetables, and other edible plants. Other duties may include composting, weeding, digging, hoeing and watering in the field. At times assistance is needed with landscape and property clean up.

San Antonio Food Bank – Curbside Distribution 7/27

Serve families who rely on Food Bank to provide fresh and healthy meals!  Volunteers will be asked to participate in the overall effort of the curbside model to include: checking registration at time of pick up, product sorting and building of carts and distributing of product builds into vehicles as families arrive.

UNITE is a city evangelistic event with some of the biggest names in Christian music, paired with a presentation and invitation to the Gospel! Volunteers are needed for: Parking, Greeting, Merchandise, Concessions, Prayer and Gospel Response. Let us know which area you’d like to help with!

Hope for Heroes Texas 7/30

Come and welcome some first responder families as they begin a free retreat courtesy of Hope for Heroes. “The Greeting” is designed to remind these heroes that they are loved and appreciated. You will get to spend time showing honor and appreciation to those who are on the front lines in our cities.

Exciting things are happening at CUB, starting with the addition of new adjacent property!  Come ready to move debris, paint, landscape, etc. We’d even take tradesmen if you’re available!

Christian Assistance Ministry is a special ministry to homeless and urban families in the center of San Antonio. They’re preparing to host a special meeting and need help preparing the campus for that event.

CAM – Foxhole 6 – Worship and Bible Study 7/30

Join the CBC community group, Foxhole 6, as they share the love of Jesus with some of our homeless friends. Help set up, tear down, greet, and provide refreshments for a worship service and bible study at the CAM tabernacle.

Lock the Shields is a prayer initiative comprised of families and community members who pray for local schools.  Sign up to pray over your child’s school or any school of your choice.  This can be done on your own or with your family at your convenience.  Let’s lock shields with others and love San Antonio by covering our schools in prayer!

For Her is an organization that serves at-risk women (“community members”) with resources for improving their circumstances. For many of their community members, ensuring their family has access to basic supplies can be a struggle, so the community center keeps a supply closet stocked. Your donation will replenish their supply closet ensuring their members have access to some of their most urgent and basic needs.

“Takin’ It To The Streets” is a ministry that serves those who are looking for a more permanent living situation. Come join as we serve dinner, distribute clothing, assist in other ways, fellowship and minister to the brothers and sisters on the street!

Come join New Hope Connections for a Bar-be-que with foreign-born families from across San Antonio to break bread together and to see relationships develop!  This is a great event for families to come and meet families that are new to San Antonio!

Come serve at the SA Food Bank’s historic Mission San Juan farm! Participate in the effort to grow food using a historic method of farming practices. Farm tasks will vary seasonally but our volunteers most frequently aid in planting, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, and mulching.

CBC Students – Strength to Stand 7/27-30

CBC Students is partnering with Strength to Stand to Love San Antonio. Students who register for Love San Antonio will be a part of morning breakouts held at CBC, will help run a VBS for the SA Hope Center, and will get to participate in the Unite events each evening.

Join your CBC Family, in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, at Harlandale Memorial Stadium to host a traditional drive-thru food distribution for the families and students of Harlandale School District. Come help create a clear and accessible trail to Raggers Point, a destination spot for campers being mentored.

Come and help finish the partially built rock chapel and trail. There’s also an opportunity to construct an outdoor native plant garden around it.

KidzTime is an opportunity for volunteers and their children to engage with the children at Strong Foundation in activities while their parents attend life school classes. It is much more than childcare, it is relational–spending quality time with the children to encourage them and to show them the love of Christ. The kids love it, and so will you.

Haven for Hope is a robust ministry with an expansive campus that provides a wide variety of services to folks who are seeking permanant housing. Help organize donated items received from the community in their donation warehouse!

Come serve with the Apartment Life team in hosting a “Summer Bash” with a Dive-In movie, hot dogs, popcorn, popsicles, cotton candy, games, and raffle prizes!

Join your CBC Family, as we sort and pack backpacks filled with school supplies for students in various districts, across our city!

For Her – Leader Training Meal 7/28

For Her is an organization that serves at-risk women (“community members”) with resources for improving their circumstances. Provide dinner for their group leader training where community members take their next step in encouraging other women. Dinner consists of a salad or appetizer, an entree and side(s), and dessert. For Her staff will be in contact with you about the estimated headcount prior to the meal, but plan to serve 10-15 women. Dinner can be homemade or purchased from a restaurant. The meal should be dropped off at our community center by 5 p.m. The For Her community center does not have a full kitchen (just a kitchenette with a microwave, sink, and refrigerator) so meals must be prepared off-site and brought in. Having everything heated and ready to serve is ideal, and we also have a hot plate that fits two large aluminum pans to keep things warm. We will provide all serving utensils, plates, glassware, silverware, and napkins. CBC will reimburse the cost of the supplies, up to $150.

Hope Boxes support Hope Mommies mission by giving a tangible gift that expresses love, provides Biblical truth, and invites bereaved women into a community of fellow Hope Moms. CBC has generously bought the supplies, some help assemble the boxes and write encouraging notes to the women that will be receiving them!

First Responder Thank You Cards 7/26

Gather with your CBC family as we create encouraging and uplifting notecards for the first responders of our city. We will have a giant banner to sign, as well as provided notecards to decorate and scribe words of gratitude and encouragement. We also ask participants to consider contributing $5 giftcards to various coffee shops and/or restaurants around town, to include as a blessing to our first responders.
